The founder and leader of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) and Life Assembly Worship Centre in Accra, Christian Kwabena Andrews, has said that he is truly asking and fasting against Ghana getting an International Monetary Fund (IMF) bailout.
As per him, he is petitioning God for Ghana not to get it with the IMF in light of the fact that the cash they will give the nation won’t in any capacity assist with mitigating the difficulties Ghanaians are going through.
Speaking with Neat Fm in a interview , Kwabena Andrews, commonly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom, added that should Ghana get the bailout from the fund , the cash may be utilized to support the extravagant way of life of the government.
“The IMF bailout will end up to be meaningless… I believe that everyone should realize that I am supplicating and fasting that God will prevent the IMF from giving us a bailout. We should see whether we will all kick the bucket if the bailout isn’t given to us.
“I’m praying exceptionally hard that we don’t get the IMF funds . I believe they should let us know that we don’t qualify and that they won’t give us the bailout.
“Is it the IMF that should come and grow food for us? We have farmlands that we can develop to take care of ourselves. We have the young who will work. What they (the government) need is cash that they will use for their excessive way of life – praying personal luxury planes, wearing large coats in plans, etc. Thus, with respect to me, I’m truly praying that we don’t get this cash,” he said in Twi.
Additionally, Osofo Kyiri Abosom said that houses of worship that have called for three days of fasting and petitions to get the nation out of the ongoing difficulties, including the Congregation of Pentecost, are not serious.
“The Pentecost elders don’t have the foggiest idea what they are doing. Is it true or not that they are praying that the nation goes into more debt ? Is it not in the book of scriptures that righteous individuals ought not be beggars , so are they saying that we are currently corrupt and we ought to be circumventing asking for money?… they are not serious,” he added.
