Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, has discredited accusations that he, along with his entire nuclear family, fled Ghana amid the $100 million SML corruption scandal.
Upon returning to the country from a brief family visit abroad, he asserts that he is actively performing his duties as the Commissioner-General of GRA. During an inspection tour in the Greater Accra region, he emphasizes, “I have not forsaken my position due to the SML deal.”
Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, alleges on social media platform ‘X’ that Dr. Owusu-Amoah and his nuclear family have deserted Ghana.
Contrary to Ablakwa’s claims, Dr. Owusu-Amoah, speaking to Joy Business, dismisses the MP’s allegations as false and unfounded. He clarifies,h “I returned to the country after a planned brief visit earlier this year.”
Dr. Owusu-Amoah assures that the GRA will adhere to the country’s laws to generate necessary revenue for economic development.
Emphasizing the commitment of all staff and personnel, he underscores their dedication to assisting the current administration in achieving the outlined revenue target for the year.
