Ghana’s government has recently procured 12 modern trains for its railway transportation system.
These contemporary diesel-powered trains, part of the initial batch, are designed for both regional and long-distance operations within the Ghana Railways network.
Expected to arrive from Poland in the middle of the upcoming month, the first vehicle is currently undergoing final tests at the Pesa factory in Bydgoszcz, as reported by the Polish website “RK.” There’s a possibility that the new diesel multiple unit might reach Ghana before the end of this month.
The framework contract between the Ghanaian Railways and the supplier covers 12 diesel multiple units, with an option for the ordering party to acquire an additional 10 vehicles.
Technically similar to the RegioFox vehicles produced by Bydgoszcz for Czech Railways, the procured trains are making their way into the country.
Deputy Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar shared images of these trains on her social media platform, confirming the news on Friday, January 19th.
